What are the lunar nodes
The lunar nodes are mathematical pointswhere the Moon's orbit intersects the ecliptic – the apparent path of the Sun across the sky. They are not planets or physical bodies, but calculated positions that astronomers have tracked for thousands of years, primarily because eclipses occur near the nodes.
The North Node (Rahu) represents the direction of growth – qualities, experiences, and life areas you need to develop. It feels unfamiliar and uncomfortable at first, but moving toward it brings deep fulfillment.
The South Node (Ketu) is the opposite point, always exactly 180 degrees away. It represents your default patterns – talents and habits that come naturally but can become a trap if you stay there. Growth requires moving from the South Node toward the North.
The nodes complete a full cycle through all 12 zodiac signs in approximately 18.6 years, spending about 18 months in each sign. This means everyone born within the same 18-month window shares the same nodal axis – and the same fundamental life direction.
